Phyllis Nadine Janes

Phyllis Nadine (Fitzgerald) Janes, 87, of Gillette, Wyoming (and formerly of Cornell, Illinois), passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the presence of loving family members following a short illness at Campbell County Hospital in Gillette. She was born June 25, 1930 to Robert W. Lipscomb and Laura Lee (McDonald) Lipscomb in Champaign, Illinois.  She was educated in Champaign school systems. She had a lively personality and was very fortunate to have had two loving husbands.  She married Paul Fitzgerald on November 6, 1947 in Louisville, Illinois.  He passed away August ­­­­­­15, 1972.  She later married Bruce Janes in Pontiac, Illinois on February 14, 1976. He passed away November 16, 2013.  Her love for these two men and their occupations carried her and her children on an adventure throughout the western United States. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Patty Martin, Margaret Eddington, and Joanie Lipscomb; brothers: Willard Lipscomb, Robert Lipscomb, Donald Lipscomb, and daughter Joan Elizabeth Fitzgerald. Besides being a housewife, she enjoyed working at the Shoe Factory in Flora, Illinois and Motorola, Inc. in Pontiac, Illinois.  She was an avid reader and loved to crochet.  She was known for her quick wit and compassion for those less fortunate.  She loved kids her entire life.  She was a mom to many of her children’s friends, and will be missed by many of her extended family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Flora, Illinois. Phyllis is survived by her children, Ken (Sharon) Fitzgerald, Lewiston, Idaho; Linda (Steve) Ahrens, Odell, Illinois; Vicki Garner, Galesburg, Illinois; Mark (Mary) Fitzgerald, Gillette, Wyoming; Sally (Gregg) Wolf, Yukon, Oklahoma; Candy Janes, Pontiac, Illinois; Tim Janes, New York City, New York; Frank Janes, Austin, Texas; Valerie (Bob) Richardson, Maysville, Georgia; Regis Ballard, Florida; and Schuyler Janes of Georgia; brothers, Dave (Phyllis) Lipscomb, Heltonville, Indiana; Adrian “Pete” Lipscomb, Champaign, Illinois; and sister, Karen (Dean) Fleetwood, Heltonville, Indiana; along with 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  Memorial service will take place at a later date to be determined in Flora, Illinois.
