Memorial service for Phyllis Record will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday August 3, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Susan Reichenberg officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service at the church. At 4:30 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 will be a no host gathering at Ruff’s Bar in Rozet, WY. Phyllis G. Record, age 81, of Gillette passed away on Sunday July 29, 2018, at the Sundance Nursing Home, after years of battling Dementia. Phyllis was born March 3, 1937, in Halsey, Oregon, to Kermit and Jessie (Gray) Johnson. She has a sister, Joyce (Butch) Ruff of Rozet, brothers, Marvin (Wally) Johnson of Sheridan and Roger (Jane) Johnson of Rozet. She went all her years of school at Rozet. She married Raymond “Red” Record in Gillette, Wyoming on September 16, 1956 and they had 3 children. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and partner in the ranching business with her husband Raymond “Red”, purchasing the ranch they called home in 1972 and working it alongside him and the kids. She was a past President of Campbell County Cattlewomen’s Association. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, refinishing antique furniture and she was an avid reader and great cook. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 61 years, her siblings and children, Robert “Bob” (Darlene) Record of Sundance; Lynda (Lonny) Berckefeldt of Cheyenne; and Paul (Lori) Record of Gillette and grandchildren, Jennifer Record, Bobbi Jo Bierma, Dustin Gochenour, Rory Record, Rachel Abrahamson, Rusty Record and step-grandchildren Amy Schramm, Kamy Boller, Kyle Nelson, Cody Nelson, Jenna Wiard and Shannon Nelson. Great Grandchildren Bailey, Dawson, Tanner Schramm, Brooke & Kyler Boller, Brady Bierma, Kamaryn and Kaitlyn Record, Ashlyn Abrahamson, Carson Nelson and Liam Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Jessie Johnson and daughter-in-law, Norma Record. The family would like to take this time to express their gratitude for the care that Phyllis received while at the Sundance Nursing Home. The nurse’s tender loving care of Phyllis during her stay there was amazing. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made in Phyllis’ name to Crook County Medical Services District, Long-term Care in Sundance, WY.
