Randall (Randy) James Miller 61, of Gillette, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 after a courageous 8 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 28, 1956 in Williston, North Dakota to Claudia Ann (Anfinson) Miller & John Joseph Miller. Randy lost his father at age 5 and was raised by Robert (Bob) Walstad. He grew up in Williston, where he began working at a young age mowing lawns for the neighbors and part-time kitchen help at the Skelley Truck Stop. His “other” part-time job was his famous Wine & Still business. He was also summer help at the Cactus Concrete Plant, and after graduating from Williston High School, Randy continued at the Cactus Concrete Plant running the Block Building Machine for 2 years. He spent a short time at the Farmer Elevator Seed Plant and a year being a Welder’s Helper. In 1978, Randy began his career as a roustabout in the oilfields of North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. In 1997, Randy & Jenny started RJM Energy Services, Inc. in Gillette, Wyoming. Their business was a success for 20 years until Randy’s cancer diagnosis. Randy believed in working hard and playing hard, and he took pride in everything he did. On April 7, 1978, Randy welcomed his first daughter, Jennifer Ann. Seven years later, on June 6, 1985 his son Chase Randall was born. Another 7 years passed, and his youngest daughter Shelby Lee was born on October 15, 1991. Family was always very important to Randy; he especially enjoyed holidays together. On April 15, 1994, Randy married Jennifer (Jenny) Lee Collins in Broadus, Montana, where they lived for 2 years. The family later moved to Gillette, Wyoming and traveled throughout the state for work. Working long hours in the oilfield was something that Randy truly enjoyed. He was always able to find time for a long weekend at the lake, tinkering with his classic cars or going to a local auction or garage sale looking for a treasure. Randy could be found spending countless hours after work trimming the yard or washing one of his “toys.” He always had a list of things that he needed to do. Later in life, Randy found enjoyment at the family cabin in Pine Haven, where he could put his years of collecting on display. He also enjoyed boating at Keyhole, trips to Mexico, riding his Harley in the Hills, cruising in his Classics, tinkering in his Toy Box, as well as trips to his home in Arizona and 4-wheeling in the desert. Randy was well known for his unique sense of humor, the love for his family and living life to the fullest. He enjoyed the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, friends and family.
