Funeral service for Rex Gelok will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1500 O’Hara Drive, Gillette, WY; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Walker Funeral Home. Gillette resident Rex Benson Gelok 74, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Close to Home Hospice House of heart related issues. Rex was born on January 16, 1943 to Jean and Frank Reasch in Lovell, WY. He lived in Cowley, WY and was adopted by Edward Engle Gelok on January 20, 1948. His family moved to Casper, WY where he attended Natrona County High School. He married Mary F. Staunton on January 2, 1960 in Billings, MT. They lived in Casper, WY, Big Piney, WY and moved to Gillette on December 12, 1961. Together they share four children. They divorced in 1986.Rex worked as an auto mechanic, parts salesman, and retired as a truck driver. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, racing, reading and cooking. Rex was a member of the Stock Car Association at Thunder Speedway since 1971, a member of the National Rifleman’s Association and spent many years volunteering for the American Legion Post #42 SAL. He married Wanda Sue (Beavers) McKown on November 29, 1996, in Casper, WY. Rex is survived by his wife; Wanda, her daughter; Meshanna (Brad) Heckenliable of Pierre, SD and family, sons; Jody (Christi) Gelok of Ft.Lupton, CO and Anthony (Melanie) Gelok of Brighton, CO, daughters; Krystal (Eusebio Jr.) Quinonez of Platteville, CO, and Karri (Lyle) Fair of Brighton, CO, brothers; Robert (Lila Eby) Gelok of Puyallup, WA, sisters; Noreen (Dale) Leatham of Casper, WY and Linda Gelok of Evanston, WY; 21 grandchildren, 26, great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one grandchild.
