Memorial service for Robert Liggett will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Church at the Barn # 2 McKenzie Road in Gillette, WY. Robert Liggett age 91 passed away on December 3, 2017 at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes. Robert William Liggett was born on December 20, 1925 in Stamford, SD to Mildred (Rada) and Milford Liggett. Robert served in the Air Force in WWII from 1942-1945, He served as a Flight Engineer on B17 bombers over Germany. He and his crew survived being shot down on two separate missions in two different planes. After the war Robert became a machinist for Caterpillar in California. He returned to Wyoming in 1948 to be the Oil Field Foreman in Clareton, WY, then moved to Buffalo, SD in 1960 to start Liggett Construction. In 1968, he moved his family to Gillette and was a Heavy Equipment Operator until 2010. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, car racing, mechanics and horses. Robert lived and enjoyed life to its fullest. He was truly loved and respected by his family and fiercely loyal to his friends. Robert is survived by son, Lance (Karen) Liggett of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Gail Japp and Sherry (Mike) Morrison both of Gillette, WY; brother, Bruce Liggett of Belle Fourche, SD; sister, Marjorie Riddle of Sheridan, WY, along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife of 26 years, Dorothy Liggett; brothers, David, Larry, Earl, Wayne, and Pat; and sisters, Beverly and Carol.
