Robert Lee McGraw, 89, of Gillette, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 7, 2024 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at Gillette Memorial Chapel at 11 A.M. Thursday, December 12, 2024 with Pastor Ron Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, with luncheon to follow at Cornerstone Church of God. Visitation and gathering will take place on Wednesday December 11 from 5 to 7 PM. at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Robert was born on February 14, 1935 to Mabel and Willard McGraw. Robert was one of eight children in the family. He grew up in Gillette and played sports during his high school years, including quarterback for the Camels football team. Robert served four years active service in the United States Air Force, serving at Goose Bay, Labrador as well as within the United States. After serving in the Air Force, Robert attended and graduated Bible College. Robert and his brother Dan McGraw did evangelistic services both while in college and after they graduated. Robert became a postal worker for the Gillette Post Office. He worked there for 16 years and then went to work for Jacob Ranch Mine where he retired in 1996. Robert continued to do gospel concerts throughout his life as well as doing specials in church services. He was an active member of the Assembly of God Church and the Cornerstone Church of God where he led worship services for many years as well as serving on the church board. Robert met and married Leona Bishop in1989. Together they shared many happy memories which included vacations to the Bahamas, Cancun, Hawaii and his favorite place to go, Branson, Missouri. Most of all they enjoyed spending time together. Robert had two children from a previous marriage, Peggy Sue McGraw and Randy Lee McGraw. Robert was also a great stepfather to Sheri, Jim, Keith and Brian Bishop. Robert loved spending time with the children and, later, grandchildren as well. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, his daughter Peggy, son Randy, stepdaughter Sheri and stepson Keith. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Leona, his brother Dan McGraw, stepsons Jim and Brian Bishop, 5 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 7great-grandchildren.
