Roger Monroe Nelson, 68, of Gillette, WY died Monday, June 5, 2023. Roger was born in Fargo, ND to Naomi (Kramer) and Monroe Nelson on June 11, 1954. He graduated from West Fargo High School and earned his BS degree at Black Hills State College. He was a surveyor for municipalities.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Susan (McGrath); brothers Bruce (Cindy) of Ephraim, WI; Jim (Wanda) of Belle Fourche, SD and his sister Pam (Nelson) Larimore. His loving nephews and nieces will always remember the joy that Roger brought into their world, Sarah (Larimore) Pietron, Nate Larimore, Nicole (Nelson) Rapson, Megan (Nelson) Cassidy, Eric Nelson, Emily Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Hunter Craig. His pals at the dog park and many other friends and relatives mourn his loss.
Roger was an avid camper. He loved the outdoors, especially the Black Hills of SD and Lake Eunice in MN. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Having a lobster in Maine, playing his guitar, learning something new, and enjoying a good book were important to Roger. He loved his dogs, Kenna, Gabby, Sky, Claycey, Sophie and Jake, and his cats Sammie, Odi and Mittens.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2023 at Cam-Plex WPA Building, Cam-Plex Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals https://www.aspca.org, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Animal Shelter, Herd of Wyoming.
