Sharon Jean Schmit

Memorial service for Sharon Schmit will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Gillette resident Sharon Jean Schmit, 56 years old, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Campbell County Health after a 3 ½ year battle with a rare cancer. Sharon was born June 20, 1962 in Cuba, Missouri to Walter E. and JoAnn (Puckett) Dobkins.  Her family moved to Hanna, Wyoming in 1968 where she received her education.  Sharon married Michael Eckenrod Sr. and to that union there were three children born Sean, Michael Jr, and Pam.  On June 17, 2000 Sharon married Ray Schmit, and a son Ryan was born. Sharon loved gardening and her flowers.  Her biggest joy in this world was her grandchildren.  She also loved filling the swimming pool and getting ready for parties. Sharon is survived by her husband, Ray Schmit; her three children, Sean (Christine) Eckenrod; daughter, Pam (Mike) Walter; son Ryan Schmit; mother, JoAnn Dobkins all of Gillette, WY; brothers, Bob (Karrie) Dobkins of Hudson, Wyoming; Chuck (Becky) Dobkins of Pinedale, Wyoming; and a sister Bev (Scott) Hannum of Rawlins, Wyoming; also her grandchildren, Meia, Alex, Bailey, Carlie, Katelyn, Michael, Charlie and Kollin. Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Walter E. Dobkins; son, Michael Eckenrod Jr; nephew, Logan Dobkins; and mother-in-law, Jill Anderson.
