Memorial services for Sheldon Cruse will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Gillette Memorial Chapel followed by fellowship at the Arbuckle Lodge. Sheldon Scott Cruse, 55, of Gillette, died at his home on April 21, 2021. Sheldon was born on August 18, 1965 to Charles and Peggy Cruse. The family moved around, living in Fort Thompson, SD, Aberdeen, SD, Denver CO and Thermopolis, WY. The family settled in Barnard, SD and Sheldon graduated from Frederick High School in 1984. He joined the Army Reserves and served from 1983-1989. He attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, where he majored first in Biology and then in English. He worked at Taylor Music while attending NSU, where he worked primarily on woodwinds and stringed instruments. He had an eye for detail and loved working with his hands. In 1997, he met and married Claudine Krovoza. They made their home in Aberdeen and in 1998, were blessed with their son, Marshall Clive Cruse. Sheldon adored his son and was a very hand on father. Sheldon and Marshall went on many adventures on their bikes and rarely were apart. Sheldon worked for Roncalli Catholic Schools for a number of years and in 2008, Sheldon and Claudine moved to Gillette, where he was employed by Protech Computing. Sheldon loved books, music, art, and language. He was a true Renaissance man. He taught himself how to play guitar and was very talented. He loved everyone and never had an unkind word to say about anyone he met. Sheldon is survived by his wife, Claudine, his son Marshall, both of Gillette, his parents, Charles and Peggy Cruse of Barnard, SD, sister Melony (Jason) Flinn of Frederick, SD, brother Travis (Doris) Cruse of Gillette, sister Mandy (Chad) Weiszhaar, Aberdeen, SD, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Maxine Fiekens, and Charles and Alice Cruse, brother in law, John Bowman, nephew Alex Bowman.
