Every family has a story… welcome to ours We are all better people for having loved Van Ewing, who died at age 63 on September 2, 2017 doing one of the things he loved best, fly fishing in Saratoga, WY on the North Platte. Van was born in Billings, MT on August 22, 1954. He grew up in Townsend, MT and Boulder, MT, graduating from Jefferson High School in Boulder. After many years of working in the construction industry, Van decided to strike out on his own. To quote JFK, “Every great accomplishment starts with a decision to try.” And try he did. In 1998 Van Ewing Construction Inc. became a reality. From the humble beginning of a coal mine guard shack to the prestigious honor of 2009 National Small Business Person of the year award. Behold the American Dream. Van has left a legacy not only in his community but also with his family and friends. He will be loved and remembered by his wife and soul-mate Jody, his 4 very-loved sons, his 9 very-loved grandkids and by his mother and siblings and other family members. Also by the many friends that have known, loved, and respected him. To all of his many family and friends, Van bids you a fond farewell and he’ll see you on the river. A memorial service for Van will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at the New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastor Paul Baughman officiating. Interment will take place at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery immediately following the service. Following the graveside service the family has planned a reception and time of memory sharing to be held at Van Ewing Construction Inc. 5650 Magnusson Blvd, Gillette WY. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be gifted to Van’s favorite community charities.
