Funeral service for Vermona “Monie” Ochsner will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at UCC Church in Isabel, SD with Casey Bader officiating; interment to follow at Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at UCC Church in Isabel, SD. Vermona Ochsner age 87, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, WY. Monie was born on March 22, 1930 in Isabel, SD to Ella (Bohle) and Jacob Hirsch. She attended and graduated from Isabel High School in 1948. After graduation she taught summer school at a country school in 1948 and 1949. She married Lester Ochsner on June 4, 1950 at the Isabel Congregational Church. She also worked as a school bus driver in the Isabel area for many years. The family moved to New Underwood, SD in 1974 and in 1992, moved to Gillette, WY to work for L&L Construction. A gentle heart, Monie was a very caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an outstanding cook and baker was known for her homemade breads, caramel rolls, and especially her raised donuts and homemade noodles. She prided herself with her embroidery and cross-stitch that she made for her children and grandchildren. Monie is survived by her sons, Daryl Ochsner of Laramie, WY; Dennis (Laurie) Ochsner of Ajo, AZ; Jack Ochsner of Gillette, WY; daughters, Junella (Ronnie) Alley of Isabel, SD; Karla (Emory) Spiegelberg of Laramie, WY; Rhonda (Mike) Wanke of Thornton, CO; Nancy (Jim) Printz of Lanark, IL; brothers, Arnie Hirsch and Robert Hirsch both of Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lester Ochsner in 1999; grandson, Leslie; sister Gladys and brother, Marvin.
