Violet Hochhalter, age 89, of Gillette Wyoming, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at The Legacy. Violet was born April 2, 1928 to Jacob and Ida (Myer) Gehring-Jensen, just 2 miles east of Lincoln Valley, North Dakota on the family farm. She attended Pleasant View School in Burleigh, ND. Violets family later moved to Regan, ND when she was two years old, where she completed the 8th grade and lived on the family farm. On November 30, 1952 she married Arthur Jacob Hochhalter, and they farmed at Regan for 16 years. Art and Violet were very involved with the farming, community and church events. They then briefly moved to Mandan, North Dakota in 1969, and finally settled in Gillette, Wyoming in 1971. While in Gillette, she worked at various motels but mostly she was a homemaker. Violet loved spending her time farming and gardening. Violet also enjoyed Bingo and reading her daily newspaper. The highlight of her life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Violet especially loved the holidays, it was a time her family all always came together. Violet is survived by her sons; Ron (Bonnie) Hochhalter, Doug Hochhalter, and Dale Hochhalter, all of Gillette, WY, daughters; Brenda Gideon of Pine Haven, WY, Twila (Steve) Stensland, Sandy Wilcox, and LeAnn (Roger) Brown, all of Gillette, WY, brother; Leo (Ardella) Gehring of Bismarck, ND, along with twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
