Mass of Christian Burial for Willie Casper Holzer will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 with Father Bryce Lungren officiating. A visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday at the church from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors. Willie Holzer, 90, passed away on January 3, 2021 at his home in Gillette, WY of natural causes. Willie Casper Holzer was born on October 21, 1930 to John Sr. and Johana (Mastel) Holzer in Trail City, South Dakota. He was raised by Kathline (Mastel) Holzer. Willie grew up in a large family of 15 siblings. He attended country school near the farm where the family lived. Willie served in the U.S. Army from December 7, 1951 to November 13, 1953 he also was in the Army reserve. Willie met his wife Mary Joan Maxon at a dance, they were married June 6, 1955. With this union there were seven children; Doris, Patty, Cindy, Mary, Bill, Steve, and Paula. Willies hobbies included camping, fishing and spending time with family. He loved to work hard from a young age. Willie retired from Road and Bridge and throughout his life he worked for various construction companies. Willie truly loved working in the construction industry. Willie is survived by his children, Doris Byington of Fargo, ND; Patty (Nolan) of Aberdeen, SD; Cindy Schmeichel of McLaughlin, SD; Mary (Greg) Hunt of Gillette, WY; Bill Holzer of Gillette, WY; Steven Holzer of Gillette, WY; Paula (Paul) Welech of Keizer, OR. Brother: Kasmer (Arlene) Holzer of Somerset, SD. Sister: Ida Holzer of Mobridge, SD and by 20 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; stepmother, 13 brothers and sisters, son-in-law, George Byington and four grandchildren.
